Kontroversi is a Cambridge based electrofunk duo. They are Mr Margaret Scratcher (Mark Sutton) on keyboards, synthesizers and drum machines, and Lionclub (Leonardo Robarts) on lead vocals, guitar and synths. After knowing each other many years through the music scene, in 2016 they decided to collaborate to produce their own unique sound which they have dubbed ‘#Cadillac Funk’.

Imagine Prince, Parliament, New Order and Jamiroquai taking a road trip across the galaxy in a ’59 Cadillac and you’re halfway there…

Their live show embraces 80’s funk and lies somewhere between a band and a DJ –
Between them, they build a foundation of heavy beats from classic drum machines, chunky analog basslines, and then the combination of Margaret Scratcher’s sweeping keytar solos and analog wizardry, and Lionclub’s soulful melodies and guitar chops ties the whole package together to define the Kontroversi sound.
